Community Safety
Cheshire West and Chester Council delivers a wide range of
services that contribute directly or indirectly to making our
communities safer and aims to ensure that community safety is taken
into account in all aspects of service delivery.
The Community Safety Team ensures that the Council meets its
statutory responsibilities under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998
through promoting Community Safety and reducing the fear of crime
in West Cheshire.
The Community Safety Team takes a coordinating role for the
Council in working with partner agencies to develop, implement and
monitor Community Safety strategies and plans, and to support and
advise Elected Members and other key Council Departments in their
work on such issues.
Community Safety Partnerships have a responsibility to produce
an audit of crime and disorder in their area and to consult widely
with the public in order to shape the production of a strategy that
provides the framework of how agencies will work together to reduce
crime and disorder and increase public reassurance.
