Gypsies and Travellers

Below is a list of unauthorised encampments in the Cheshire and Warrington area. These are shown by Council area.

Each unauthorised encampment is given a name based on where it was first reported. The exact location of the encampment may be somewhere nearby. Similarly, there may be a slightly different number of caravans reported when the group first arrive. There is a procedure for dealing with encampments and the information is updated as this progresses. If you have checked the list below and want to tell us about a new encampment, please use our reporting form.

Cheshire West and Chester

Grass area off Browning Way, Winsford

• Arrived 3 March 2026
• Current Status: A court hearing set for Tuesday 7 of April at 1pm whereby a court order will be obtained to move the group on.
• Notes: Council land

Oil Sites Road, Temporary stopping place, Ellesmere Port

• Arrived 29 March 2026
• Current Status: A Section 77 notice was served on the group, giving them until 3pm on Thursday 2 April 2026 to vacate the land.
• Notes: Council land.
• Information updated: 1 April 2026, 3.10pm
