Residents to have their say about enforcement

Views sought about proposed enforcement policy

Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking views from residents and businesses about its proposed enforcement policy.

The policy will set the framework for enforcement activity for a variety of regulatory services including:

• inspection of food premises
• Trading Standards
• health and safety
• pollution inspection of industrial and commercial premises
• investigation of neighbour nuisance complaints

Cllr Keith Musgrave, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said; "Consistent with the new Council's principles of putting our customers and communities at the heart of what we do and valuing all contributions, it is essential we receive feedback on this consultation. I guarantee that all feedback will be considered."

Issues raised in the consultation include views on whether the Council should enforce at different levels in differing neighbourhoods, how it should deal with complaints about enforcement judgements and how the policy should be publicised.

Copies of the full enforcement policy are available on this website, and the consultation can be completed on line from Friday 28 November 2008.

The consultation closes on 13 February 2009 and a Council decision is expected in March 2009.
