Director of Children and Young People's Services announced

John Stephens set to take on important role

Cheshire West and Chester Council has appointed John Stephens as its new Director of Children and Young People's Services.

The current Deputy Director of Children's Services at Salford City Council will take up his position when the new council comes into being on April 1 2009.

Cheshire West and Chester Chief Executive, Steve Robinson, said: "John brings with him a wealth of experience in both professional and voluntary roles and has a real commitment towards improving outcomes for children, families and communities.

"I am pleased to welcome him to the council at this exciting time."

John Stephens said: "I am delighted to take on this important role at the new Council and I look forward to working with Councillors, partners and colleagues on the challenges ahead."
