Councils launch advertising campaign

Local councils in Cheshire have grouped together to launch a publicity campaign to raise awareness about the election on 1 May and encourage people to use their vote.

The campaign features the phrase 'how will you use your three votes on 1 May?' This phrase highlights the fact that residents have the opportunity to vote for up to three candidates to represent them on the Council for the new authority - Cheshire West and Chester.

The advertising campaign will involve adverts on radio, in newspapers and on bus shelters across Cheshire and will be supported by leaflets in all council facilities and a road show.

The road show will feature an 'ad van' and a mobile unit that will tour Cheshire during the two weeks prior to the election. Council staff will be available at each stop to answer any questions that residents may have about the election.

A website to support this campaign has been developed - www.useyour3votes.org.uk - that will give the road show dates along with information about postal voting, electoral offices and maps showing the electoral wards.
