The Council is responsible for enforcing National and European Union food legislation in all food businesses operating within Cheshire West and Chester. We aim to ensure that all food produced and sold in the area is safe for human consumption and that all cases of food poisoning are investigated thoroughly to prevent spread and recurrence.

The Section does not enforce the food legislation specific to slaughterhouses and approved cold stores, this is the responsibility of the Meat Hygiene Service.

Trading Standards

Trading Standards advise on the rights and responsibilities of consumers and traders, relating to the supply of goods and services. They investigate complaints and test the safety, quantity and quality of goods. Visit the Trading Standards pages.
