Advice on mortgage arrears and debt
If you have money problems and these are affecting your ability to pay your rent or mortgage, then you should seek help and advice as soon as possible before your situation gets out of hand and threatens your home.
Your landlord is likely to evict you or your home may be reposessed if you do not keep up with your payments.
Our Money Advice Workers can undertake a financial assessment for you to ensure that you are claiming all available benefits. They can also offer advice on how to reduce your debts.
Our Mortgage Arrears Adviser can work with you to try and prevent your home being repossessed if you have fallen into difficulties with your mortgage payments. Please read our leaflet Mortgage Arrears Advice (PDF, 271KB) for more information.
We can also advise you about the national Mortgage Rescue Scheme (PDF, 319KB). This scheme is designed to prevent some of the most vulnerable families losing their homes and experiencing the trauma of repossession. The Mortgage Rescue Scheme is aimed at those who would be eligible for homelessness assistance and is subject to a range of eligibility criteria.
To arrange an appointment with the Mortgage Arrears Adviser or the Money Advice Workers please contact your local Housing Solutions team.
