A new sub-regional housing strategy for
Cheshire has developed by the Cheshire Housing Alliance
(
CHA
) which is a
partnership of local authorities and the principal stock-holding
social landlords in the sub-region.
The
CHA
provides local authorities
and other housing providers with an important channel of
communication, both to other service providers and the regional
agencies.
The strategy has identified four key
priorities:
- To increase the supply of affordable
housing.
- To increase the supply of market
housing in order to support continued economic growth and
regeneration and to meet local housing need.
- To meet the housing and
accommodation-related support needs of an increasingly ageing
population. Making the best use of the housing stock in
Cheshire
There are separate East Cheshire and Cheshire
West and Chester action plans these action plans will form the
foundation for work to tackle housing issues in the new
authorities.

The shortage of new affordable housing
continues to be an issue for Cheshire West and Chester and it will
be an early priority for the Council to look at ways of providing
resources to increase the supply of good quality housing at an
affordable cost.
The latest Regional Housing Strategy for the
North West was launched in March 2009. The themes and objectives
outlined in the new strategy set the scene for tackling the
region's housing issues in the future. View the North West
