Are you currently on:

Interested in joining one of the largest and most successful Local Authorities in the Country?

What is the Local Public Service Agreement and Routefinders?

The Local Public Service Agreement (LPSA) is the public declaration by Local Authorities to stretch their performance in specific service areas. Target 3 of Cheshire’s current Local Public Service Agreement LPSA concerns the need to increase the number of people with disabilities who gain paid employment.

Routefinders is the name we have given to the support services we have made available to develop this.

What can 'Routefinders' offer people with disabilities?

The Council is very keen to employ more disabled people. If you are currently unemployed and on one of the benefits listed above, then the Routefinders 10 week Work Placement project may be of interest to you.

What will the project provide for you?

  • 10 weeks work experience in a Council service
  • You will be given the opportunity to take part in a skills check and then your career aspirations will be matched to a suitable Council work experience position.
  • During your 10 weeks work, experience you will be supported to make applications for advertised Council vacancies if you wish **
  • Your work experience will be in a supportive and understanding environment
  • You will learn new skills and gain confidence

You will be able to apply for Council internal vacancies during your 10 weeks Work experience, however such applications would not have priority over pre-existing Council employees, particularly those who may be at risk as a result of re-organisation.

What kind of work experience will be available?

A lot depends on what skills you may already have. However, even if you have never worked before, then a suitable match may be possible for you. Possible areas of work are:

  • Accounting
  • Administration

  • Health and Social Care

You will receive training and support.

What kinds of disabilities can this project cater for?

We would be interested to talk to anyone who is on one of the benefits listed above and could benefit from work with the Council. We have a wealth of experience in supporting people with learning disabilities, physical / sensory disabilities and mental health issues.

How much will I get paid?

This opportunity will allow you stay on your current benefits., however should you be offered a paid position a full better off check will be offered to you.

Is this offer for anyone?

The offer is limited to anyone of working age, on the benefits listed above who resides in Cheshire.
