Object Identification/Enquiry Service

Do you have an unidentified painting in your attic?  Would you like to know how to care for your grandmother's wedding dress?  Is that really a piece of Chester silver in your display cabinet?

If you have such an enquiry, Museum staff can give you expert advice and information about your mystery object or heirloom.

Please contact the relevant Keeper to make an appointment:

Hannah Crowdy, Collections and Interpretation Officer (Social History), 01244 402014

Kathryn Riddington, Keeper of Natural History, 01244 402015

Peter Boughton, Keeper of Art and Creative Development, 01244 402024

Elizabeth Royles, Keeper of Early History, 01244 402025

Vanessa Oakden the Finds Liaison Officer for Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire will be at the Grosvenor Museum the 2nd Friday of each month between 10am and 4pm to identify your archaeological finds. We record the finds on an internet database which is publicly accessible. Go to http://www.finds.org.uk/ to find out more. Vanessa visits other museums in her three counties - if you want to find out when she will be at each place e-mail vanessa.oakden@liverpoolmuseums.org or 0151 4784259.

We do not charge for this service.
