Object Identification/Enquiry Service
Do you have an unidentified painting in your attic? Would
you like to know how to care for your grandmother's wedding
dress? Is that really a piece of Chester silver in your
display cabinet?
If you have such an enquiry, Museum staff can give you expert
advice and information about your mystery object or heirloom.

Vanessa Oakden the Finds Liaison Officer for Greater Manchester,
Merseyside and Cheshire will be at the Grosvenor Museum the 2nd
Friday of each month between 10am and 4pm to identify your
archaeological finds. Vanessa works for the Portable Antiquities
Scheme, which is a voluntary recording scheme for archaeological
artefacts found by members of the public. We record the finds on an
internet database which is publicly accessible. Go to http://www.finds.org.uk/ to
find out more. Vanessa visits other museums in her three counties -
