What is Bookstart
Bookstart is built on a simple
premise: babies who have an early introduction to books benefit in
lots of ways, educationally, socially, culturally and
emotionally.
Bookstart is administered by Booktrust, an independent Arts
charity funded by Arts Council England.
What will my child get?
Your child will receive 3 Bookstart packs at regular
intervals:
A Bookstart baby pack is given to babies by Health
Visitors at their 6 - 9 month health check. The Baby pack is
contained within a canvas shoulder bag and included are board
books, leaflets and rhymes.
A Bookstart satchel is given to 2 year olds by
Health Visitors at their 2 year check. The satchel contains books,
a colouring pad, crayons and much more.

The final Bookstart pack is a treasure chest which is given to
children aged 3-4 at their nursery setting. The treasure chest
contains picture books, coloured pencils, a pencil sharpener, a set
of 'bookplates' and ideas for future reading.
The Bookstart Bear
The bookstart bear travels all over Cheshire attending stoytimes
and events at libraries. Find out where he's been and
where he'll be next in his online diary.
