Europe Direct Cheshire
Europe Direct Cheshire is part of a network of centres
throughout the European Union, giving citizens easy access to
information on all aspects of the European Union's activities and
how these affect their daily lives. It also gives citizens the
opportunity to send feedback to the EU.
We have leaflet information on a wide range of subjects,
including travelling and working in Europe, funding opportunities,
facts and figures, European legislation and directives. You can see
the range of leaflets in the Europe Direct binder, which is
available at our main libraries. You can also view the
contents here Europe Binder

We also have other free materials which may be useful for
schools or organisations learning about Europe or doing

Useful Websites
There are a number of websites which are useful for European
Information:
Northwest MEPs
The Members of the European Parliament are elected every five
years under the proportional representation system. The
election is held by direct universal suffrage. For the period
2009-2014 the European Parliament has 736 MEPs, with a different
number from each of the 27 Member States. The number of MEPs
representing each Member State varies depending on the number of
inhabitants; each country has a fixed number of seats, ranging
from 99 for Germany to five for Malta.
The Northwest region is represented by 8 MEPs (PDF,
