Whats's New?

Living Books - Thursday 26th March 2pm to 4.30pm

What are Living Books? Living Books are anyone with an experience or story to tell; and let’s face it that includes every one of us!

All the Living Books are Unison members who want to get involved in a non political way, or alternatively have been the victim of an act of discrimination which they want to share with others. However, after saying that many of the stories are just down right entertaining!

Each story lasts about twenty minutes; divided into three parts a beginning, middle and an end. This is to give the listener time to ask any questions they might have in a comfortable safe environment. This all combines to provide a unique experience to share with the individual concerned their experiences and how those experiences have changed their lives.

All too often valuable stories and experiences are lost that could have been both helpful and instructive to others, not to mention anecdotes which are just downright entertaining. Living Books offers a unique opportunity to share experiences and meet people you would never normally come into contact with, giving you the opportunity to challenge your own views and assumptions about other people, and what matters to them.

The event is free but please book by phoning the Library. You can select who you want to see using the catalogue.

Sandi Toksvig talks about Living Books on Radio 4 on Monday 15th March 11 to 11.30am.  You can also listen via the internet after broadcast.
