Movement and Accessibility

When considering the priority opportunities for development within Chester city centre it is vital that the impact on movement and accessibility across the whole city is comprehensively considered to make sure any changes that are made are to the benefit of the city’s users.

We have developed an initial movement framework for the city, linked to the initial ‘concepts’ for investment and development, which looks to improve movement and accessibility across Chester for all modes of transport - particularly encouraging sustainable walking, cycling and bus use.

1. Current ring road movement.

2. Southern part of ring road stops connection between the city and the river.

3. Traffic of Southern part of ring road reduced.

4. Improved ring road movement helps pedestrian connectivity city wide.

5. Pedestrian connectivity between city squares and spaces.

6. Pedestrian connectivity between city squares and green recreational spaces.
