World Invitational Town Crier Tournament

Town CrierChester Renaissance in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council is hosed the 2010 World Invitational Town Crier Tournament in June which saw thousands of visitors pour into the city providing a huge boost to the local economy.

Chester's business, leisure and hotel community are fully supportive of this event and have been providing the competitors and their escorts, free accommodation, transport and food during their stay.

Organised with Chester's own champion Town Crier, David Mitchell, the event will saw 40 town criers from across the world arrive for a week-long festival during which there will be three days of fierce competition.

Chester Renaissance brought this event to the area to boost tourist numbers and economic spend in the city as well as delivering a full and entertaining week-long spectacular for contestants, visitors and residents alike.

Participants are travelled from America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as well as many other European countries for this truly international event.

Chester Town Crier David Mitchell says the competition consists of three rounds taking place before final – although David, as organiser, is barred from competing himself.
