Chester Renaissance in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council is hosting the 2010 World Town Crier Tournament in June which will see thousands of visitors pour into the city providing a huge boost to the local economy.
Chester's business, leisure and hotel community are fully supportive of this event and will be providing the competitors and their escorts, free accommodation, transport and food during their stay.
Organised with Chester's own champion Town Crier, David Mitchell, the event will see as many as 40 town criers from across the world arrive for a week-long festival during which there will be three days of fierce competition.
Chester Renaissance are bringing this event to boost tourist numbers and economic spend in the city as well as delivering a full and entertaining week-long spectacular for contestants, visitors and residents alike.
Participants are travelling from America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as well as many other European countries for this truly international event.
Chester Town Crier David Mitchell says the competition consists of three rounds taking place before the Saturday, June 19 final – although David, as organiser, is barred from competing himself.
