James Stewart

Jim was appointed town crier of the town of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia in 1992 and has been a member of the Nova Scotia Guild of Town Criers since 1993. He has served as the organisation's President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Over the past 18 years he has attended competitions in Nova Scotia, Ontario, British Columbia, Bermuda and the United States.

These competitions ranged from the 1997 World Championship in Sidney, British Columbia, the North American Championship in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1995 and Pennsylvania, USA in 1994 to the 2009 Bermuda International Town Crier Challenge and the 2009 Middleton, Nova Scotia Heart of the Valley International Town Crier Challenge. In these competitions he has placed as high as 5th in North America, 15th in the world, 1st in Nova Scotia and most recently 2nd in Middleton, Nova Scotia.

Jim is looking forward to achieving one of his goals of having the opportunity to cry in England.
