John Neitz

John Neitz was appointed by the mayor and city council to be the Official Town Crier of Minneapolis, Minnesota, a city of 390,000 inhabitants and centre of a metropolitan area of over three million.

John participated in Chester's 2004 World Town Crier Tournament, placing seventh overall. He was also awarded Best Ambassador and, along with his wife and escort Christina (seven months pregnant at the time), Best Dressed Couple for their Elizabethan renaissance garb.

Together, John and Christina have decades of experience performing one-on-one interactive theatre and first-person historical interpretation. They performed for many years at some of the USA's largest renaissance faires and also enjoy re-enacting, especially at Revolutionary War events, where John portrays a British redcoat soldier. Their daughter Elizabeth is now five years old and gets into the act by dressing up with her parents. She is described by all reliable, perfectly objective observers as adorable!

John is a member of the American Guild of Town Criers. He also dances with the Minnesota Traditional Morris team.
