Peter Taunton

Peter and Maureen have been Town Crier and Escort for the County Town of Stafford for 12 years, the Town Crier for Newport, Shropshire for the past 12 months.

They have decided to appear at Chester this time as the Newport Crier and Escort as this will provide more publicity for the Chester Tournament. They will be backed by the Council & citizens in their quest to be Champions at Chester.

On their visit to Chester in 2001 they were thrilled to come away with the Best Ambassador award. Since that time Peter has won numerous competitions and his wife has won the Best Dressed Escort so many times. This is always good as Maureen makes their outfits.

At the moment they still hold the title Best Dressed Town Crier and Escort in the World the competition was the World Championships, held in Maryborough, Australia 2005 and Peter also won Sexiest Town Crier in the World award, OK it was tongue in cheek, but he is still proud to cajole his wife into telling people!
