Habitats and Hillforts Species identification training

The Habitats & Hillforts Project has been very successful in running training for the public during 2011. In total eleven biological recording events were held in various locations within the Habitats & Hillforts area. Building on the success a new series of events have been devised for 2012.

RECORD, The Biodiversity Information System for Cheshire, Halton, Warrington and Wirral is the Local Environmental Record Centre (LRC) covering the Habitats & Hillforts area. It has a proven track record in delivering high quality public events, with a particular specialism in species identification training. The successful Count Me In!(CMI!) Project generated a total of two thousand, four hundred and seventy new species records for entry on the RECORD database. In addition the CMI!Project resulted in the formation of a new recording group that regularly record across the area.

Data quality is of paramount importance to RECORD and as the pilot LRC for England is leading the way on data validation and verification tools and techniques. Through the verification tool within RODIS, RECORD allows county experts access to new data in order to check and comment on its voracity; ensuring all new data entering RECORD is verified before it is uploaded to our main database.
