Victoria Road Bridge strengthening

Work starts on Monday, 6 September for around 10 weeks

24 August 2010

Sections of Chester’s Millennium Greenway and Victoria Road are to close for around 10 weeks to allow vital strengthening work to the Victoria Road Bridge.

Starting on Monday, 6 September the work will close the Millennium Greenway between the Brook Lane access - opposite Newry Court - to the access path near to the Total Fitness Gymnasium complex.

Victoria Road will be closed for the same period, preventing all vehicles and pedestrians from using Victoria Road Bridge at the intersection with Brook Lane.

Access to residential properties will be maintained but only from areas south of the bridge.

It will not be possible to turn into Victoria Road from Brook Lane, or access Brook lane from Victoria Road throughout the period of construction.

In addition to strengthening the Victoria Road Bridge, engineers will take undertake essential maintenance work to the bridge at the same time.

The likely impact of these works is that queue lengths, during the morning peak on Brook Lane, may be longer than usual.
