Westminster Food Action Group invited local residents to share their favourite pancake ingredients
Community Centre to host pancake celebrations
7 February 2012
The Westminster Food Action Group is inviting local residents to take part in pancake celebrations next week, and share their favourite recipes.
Taking place at the Westminster Community Centre on
Wednesday, 15 February between 11am and 1pm, visitors will be able
to make healthy pancakes and fill them with a range of favourite
fruits.
Local member for Rossmore, Councillor Pat Merrick, said: “Westminster Food Action was set up by residents in the neighbourhood to try and encourage local people to eat more healthily and ensure they have access to fresh fruit and vegetables.
“This is yet another example of their great work to spread the healthy eating message and I would encourage everyone to come along, meet new people and try some new and different pancake recipes.”
The group currently runs the ‘In The Bag’ scheme in partnership with ‘Lache Out’ food co-operative, where residents can order fruit, vegetables or salad and pick it up from local allocated spaces such as Westminster Community Centre, Hollymere or Portside Children’s Centre.
They also hold many community activities such as ‘Monday Munchies’ where residents can learn new cooking skills and even make a healthy nutritious meal to take home.
Many other activities are organised by the team including community barbeques, Christmas Fayres, ‘Fill Your Boots’ growing events and other events in Westminster Community School, Portside Children’s Centre and Westminster Community Centre.
