Almost 1000kgs of waste collected at Community Skip Day
25 January 2012
Residents of Winsford’s Over estate are enjoying a clutter-free
start to 2012 - thanks to Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Almost 1000kgs of waste was collected at a Community Skip Day
where local residents were encouraged to recycle or dispose of
unwanted items.
The Council's Waste Management Team collected 980kgs of waste,
of which 680kgs will be recycled.
The event was funded by local Councillor Lynda Jones through the
Member Budget Scheme after discussing the issue of waste with local
residents.
It was supported by the Council's Winsford and Rural East Area
Working Team, Waste Management Team and Cheshire Police.
Councillor Jones said: "The Community Skip Day gave residents
the opportunity to dispose of any waste or unwanted items, which is
particularly useful at this time of year where there is often more
waste than usual due to the festive period."
