The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Four days of celebration start on 2 June 2012Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Events and celebrations will take place across the borough to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The extended bank holiday, along with a national programme of celebrations, will provide the opportunity for a range of events in West Cheshire.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has waived the road closure fee and the Cheshire Community Foundation has £16,000 available to support community events.

Don’t forget to submit your event and download our Jubilee Toolkit from this page.

Road Closure requests should be submitted by Friday, 27 April. Events that don't require a road closure can still register after this date.

The Big Jubilee Lunch

The Big Lunch is the main focus of the celebrations on Sunday 3 June. It’s a chance to share lunch with neighbours, friends and family wherever and however you like. You could request a street closure and get the whole street involved or use a local park and get the whole community involved; it really is up to you.

You could even use local parks as a venue to bring-your-own picnic if you’d like a more informal way to celebrate in the company of friends and neighbours. More information can be found online:

Jubilee Beacons

On Monday, 4 June beacons will be lit throughout the country. You can host your own beacon whether it’s a traditional bonfire beacon or a tower beacon placed on a prominent building.

Fields in Trust

This is a landmark project to create a permanent legacy by protecting recreational spaces. Fields have been nominated throughout Cheshire West and Chester and more details can be found online:

Jubilee Woods

You can apply for free native trees from the Woodland Trust to help plant six million trees throughout the country. It’s a chance to come together in communities and schools to plant trees that can be enjoyed for generations.
