Introduction
The
ESD
webpages provide
a starting point for schools wishing to consider sustainable
development issues. The information below has been prepared to
support schools in taking forward practical projects. Many schools
already include sustainable development within
their curriculum activities through science, citizenship and
PSHCE. For such schools, these pages
provide an up to date summary of further projects and contacts. For
those schools that have yet to consider sustainable development
issues, these pages will provide a good starting point for both
teachers and pupils.
School Councils form a key group
within schools to help to take this agenda forward. In Cheshire
West and Chester we have a very active and enthusiastic range of
activities being undertaken within our schools that promote
sustainable development issues amongst staff, pupils and the wider
school community. The voluntary sector in the Borough is also very
active and provide a very important support system for the work
taking place. Links to these organisations are also provided on
these pages.
