Booking your civil partnership

Buying engagement ringsArranging a civil partnership is simple and straightforward. First choose and provisionally book your venue, either one of our Register Offices or Approved Premises.

Then contact us to book your Registrars.

Legal Preliminaries

You will need to complete a Notice of Civil Partnership. This is a legal requirement and can be done up to 12 months in advance of your ceremony date. Notices must be given 15 clear days in advance of your ceremony date.

Foreign nationals

There are special procedures when either partner is a foreign (non-EEA) national and is subject to immigration control.

If this applies to you, please contact us before making any ceremony arrangements.

Civil partnerships in Approved Premises

There are around 60 venues (Approved Premises) available in Cheshire West and Chester where you can have your ceremony.

Civil partnerships at approved premises can take place between 10am and 4pm, seven days a week, including some bank holidays.

For ceremonies at Approved Premises you can book Registrars up to two years in advance.

To book Registrars or to find out about booking more than two years ahead, please contact our Ceremonies Officer on 0300 123 7037.

Once your Registrars are booked, you can confirm your venue booking.

Civil partnerships in a Register Office

Ceremony rooms are available at our Register Offices. The rooms are available from Monday to Saturday, between 10am and 4pm.

You can book a register office up to 12 months in advance.  As soon as you have decided on the preferred date of your ceremony you should contact us to make a provisional booking.

We will hold your provisional booking for a month to allow you to give the legal notices of marriage.
