Alley gating

An alley gating order allows alleyways to be restricted by installing a lockable gate.

Alley gating has been proven to be successful in reducing:

• Burglaries and shed break-ins 
• Vandalism and anti-social behaviour 
• Alcohol related disorder.

If you have a problem in your area that you think could be solved by a gating order you can fill in the alley gating form (PDF, 62.6KB).

Alley gates will not be installed without the backing of local residents and keys will only be given to residents who can show they need them.

Funding

Money for alley gating is limited but applications are also accepted where funding can be found from an alternative source, for example housing associations or residents.
