In year school transfers
If you are submitting an in year application or have made an application and are awaiting a response, please note we currently have a high volume of applications to process and we are actioning the applications in chronological order. Please be assured that your application is being dealt with however there may be a delay.
In year school transfers refers to changing schools during the school year (outside of the usual application process for reception places in primary schools and year 7 places in secondary schools).
From 1 September 2010, all applications for in year school places must be made via the local authority:
If you are resident in Cheshire West and Chester Council boundary and are looking to transfer your child to another school either within the Authority or in another English Authority you must apply to Cheshire West and Chester Council.
If you are not a Cheshire West and Chester resident then you should apply via your own local authority, however if you are resident in Wales or moving from abroad you can apply direct to Cheshire West and Chester.
The application must be made from the address where your child is currently residing. Any places offered on the basis of fraudulent or intentionally misleading information will be withdrawn.
Please note it is expected that if a place is offered the place must be taken up within four weeks. You will need to consider this before making your application.
