The Council offers several routes into employment for young people, and is also proactive in providing work experience for people who are looking to start or develop their careers.

Our apprenticeship programme will provide people aged 16+ with work-based training and education across a wide range of council services.

Graduate development programme

The programme
The Council’s Graduate Development Programme aspires to attract the best graduates to develop into public sector future leaders. Over two years, you will play an integral part in developing and delivering our service by supporting and managing key projects.
You will be set strategic, business and personal objectives at the start of each placement, and your success will be measured by your performance in delivering your goals at the end of your six month placement.
The successful candidates will undertake four placements, each lasting up to six months, across a mix of our services in order to gain a broad base of experience and expertise.

Work experience
The Council is very proactive in the provision of high quality work experience placements across the authority to support our young learners who require these as a part of their school or college studies.
