Museums

Cheshire West and Chester is an area steeped in history, from its unique geology, its Roman foundations and its farming heritage, to its silver and salt making traditions.  Cheshire West Museums aim to uncover, interpret and animate this history for you to discover, learn and enjoy.

The Grosvenor Museum is based in Chester city centre in a Grade II listed Victorian building.  Collections cover the archaeology of the area, its social history, geology, natural history and art.  Weaver Hall is in Northwich and houses displays exploring the building, which was once the Union Workhouse, and the lives of the people of mid-Cheshire.  Stretton Watermill can be found near Farndon and is a working watermill, partly dating back to the 17th century.
