Cheshire West and Chester is an area steeped in history, from
its unique geology, its Roman foundations and its farming heritage,
to its silver and salt making traditions. Cheshire West
Museums aim to uncover, interpret and animate this history for you
to discover, learn and enjoy.
The Grosvenor Museum is based in Chester city centre in a Grade
II listed Victorian building. Collections cover the
archaeology of the area, its social history, geology, natural
history and art. Weaver Hall is in Northwich and houses
displays exploring the building, which was once the Union
Workhouse, and the lives of the people of mid-Cheshire.
Stretton Watermill can be found near Farndon and is a working
watermill, partly dating back to the 17th century.
Each site has an active programme of events, with temporary
