Stretton Watermill

Step back in time and visit a working mill in beautiful rural Cheshire. See one of the country’s best preserved demonstration water powered corn mills.

Stretton Watermill offers something for every visitor. The site consists of the working mill, an old 19th century stable, which houses an exhibition, and pleasant grounds with a picnic area.

After learning about the history of the mill, one of our millers will take you on a fascinating tour around it. See the ancient wooden machinery in action, listen to stories, have a go at milling grain, work miniature models, wander around the displays or just relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside setting.

There is an exciting events programme, along with special festivals, workshops, open days and activities.

How to get here

Stretton Watermill is only 10 miles from Chester off the A534 between Farndon and Broxton. Turn off at the Cock O’Barton pub and follow the brown signs. It is located on Mill Lane, but shows as an un-named road on some Sat Nav systems.

Buses

The mill is in a very rural area and bus links are very limited. The 41 and 41A services from Chester to Clutton via Malpas and Tilston are closest to the mill.

Facilities

The mill has a gift shop, car park, accessible toilet and an attractive picnic area.
