Blue Badges - You can now apply for a blue badge at any library in Cheshire West and Chester (excluding Saughall, Elton and Willaston Library centres).
Books on Prescription Scheme - The Books on Prescription scheme aims to increase access to self-help materials for people who suffer from anxiety, depression or stress-related conditions.
Books on Wheels Service is a service run in partnership with the WRVS to provide library material direct to the homes of readers who are unable to collect their own items from a library. Books on Wheels is looking for new volunteers, there are a number of ways that you could help, from visiting or driving to book selection
Bookstart - Bookstart is a national scheme to encourage families to visit the library and share the joys of reading and looking at books with babies and toddlers. Bookstart Packs and the Bookstart Bear Club are available in Cheshire West and Chester Libraries. Find out where the Cheshire Bookstart Bear has been and where he'll be next in his online diary. Catalogue - The Catalogue is available online. Items can be reserved and renewed from the catalogue using your library membership number and PIN.
Computers
All libraries have computers and use is free for one hour
each day (subject to availability) for library members, there are
charges for guest users and further
time. Terms and Conditions (PDF,
357KB) of use apply. Children and young
people under the age of 16 need
Parents Permission (PDF, 357KB). Printing and
scanning facilities are available in all libraries.
There is a charge for
printing.
Concessionary Travel - You can now apply for a concessionary bus pass or railcard at any library in Cheshire West and Chester (excluding Saughall, Elton and Willaston Library centres)
Ebooks - Cheshire Libraries do not currently offer ebooks, however we are looking into the resource and keeping abreast of developments in this area and will hopefully be able to offer ebooks at some stage in the future.

Exhibitions
Some libraries offer free exhibition spaces and facilities for
display. The library will arrange insurance of exhibits - in
return for 10% commission plus VAT on items sold.
Family History
Larger
libraries have access to a range of materials to help with
family history research. Ancestry.com Library Edition is
available for use on library computers.

- Deafness collection - includes British Sign Language learning materials, open captioned videos (which need no special caption reader to access them) and a range of books on deafness issues, available on request.

- Special needs collection for children - includes tactile books, pop-up and flap books, ‘noisy’ books and action books, available on request.
- Visual Impairment Collection (PDF, 136KB) - includes audio-described videos, DVDs and CDs.
Joining the library
Joining the library is
free of charge and can be done online
or at your local library. If you
are under 16 you should be accompanied by your parent
or carer.
