Household waste permit scheme
In the past there have been problems with businesses using our Household Waste Recycling Centres ( HWRC s) in Cheshire West and Chester.
The centres are only for the disposal of household waste and commercial or trade waste cannot legally be accepted at them.
Therefore anyone using a council HWRC with any sort of van, pickup, commercial type 4x4 or a trailer over 1.5 metres (internal length) must hand in a permit on arrival.
Trailers between 2.5 - 3.5 metres are only allowed on the sites at Ellesmere Port and Winsford. The length of trailers refers to the total internal length of the trailer box (excluding towbar).
If you arrive without a permit in one of these vehicles you will be refused entry to the centre.
Vehicles above 3.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight are not authorised to use the Household Waste Recycling Centres.
How to obtain a permit
Permits are provided free of charge and are only valid for the deposit of household waste.
- All Applications will be posted within five working days
- Six permits will be issued at a time and will be valid for a period of six months
- Applications for the subsequent six permits may be made one month prior to the expiry of existing permits. A maximum of 12 permits will be issued over 12 months.
