Commercial Waste

If you are trading as a business, then any waste that you produce is classed as commercial waste.  As a trading business you have a legal obligation known as the “duty of care” regarding how you store and dispose of your rubbish. Under this duty you must:-

Commercial Waste must not be disposed of in domestic bins and shop frontages must be kept clean at all times. Failure to comply with this can result in the Council issuing a fixed penalty notice

Removal of commercial waste

The council is not responsible for the removal of commercial waste; you must use a licensed waste contractor to remove your commercial, hazardous and special waste. Commercial waste collections are chargeable and do not form part of your Business Rates. 

Find a licensed waste business

There are public registers available within England and Wales you can use to find:-
• a business that can recycle or dispose of your waste
• a collection company to take away your waste

Removal of Commercial Waste in Chester City Centre

If you are trading as a business in Chester City Centre then you must place your waste out for collection between 8.30am until 10.30am each day.

If you put out waste outside these hours you will be served a notice telling you to stick to the timings. Failure to comply with this notice will result in a fined being issued.
