Help with viewing the site

Text Only

If you are still having problems reading our site we also provide a "Text Only" version of every page. This is a version of the website which does not show images, other graphical information or design features.

High Contrast Version

In the right hand menu you will also see the high contrast option.  Selecting this option will show you an all text version set with a black background with large yellow text - a guideline colour scheme recommended by the RNIB.

The council website has been specially designed to allow you to tailor the size of the text to suit you own needs.

Text Size

You can use the change text size option in the right hand menu or you can set your browser to view the text in a different size.

If you find the text size on this website is too small or too large for you to read comfortably, you can change the size of the text via your browser.

The way you do this differs from browser to browser, we have included instructions for the most popular:

  • Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Mac (Opera)
  • Linux


There is also information on the 'text only' version of the site.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

If you are using Internet Explorer, go to the menu at the top of the browser window and select View, from the list of options, select Text Size. You will see a side menu open up; select the size you wish to view the website in.

Firefox (Mozilla)

If you are using Firefox, go to the menu at the top of the browser window and select View, from the list of options, select Text Size. You will see a side menu open up; select the size you wish to view the website in.

Firefox also allows the text size to be changed with keyboard shortcuts:

Press Ctrl and + to increase the size
Press Ctrl and - to decrease the size
Press Ctrl and 0 to go back to the default size

Apple Mac

For a computer using a Macintosh operating system

Press Cmd and + to increase the size
Press Cmd and - to decrease the size
Press Cmd and 0 to go back to the default size

Linux

For a computer using a Linux operating system

Press Ctrl and + to increase the size
Press Ctrl and - to decrease the size
Press Ctrl and 0 to go back to the default size
