Using Transport Direct

To find the code for stops in your area check the stop details on the maps at Transport Direct Txt Codes.

  • Using the homepage "Find a Place" option put your address or postcode into the "Place" box and click "go".
  • Check the names of the stops which appear in your area (you may need to zoom in on the stops - the stop names and codes appear only when zoomed in to the largest scale).
  • Note down the codes for the stops which you use regularly they look like "chwmtap". Then text the code to 84268.

Long Distance Journeys can be planned using the a mixture of Traveline regional sites or Transport Direct depending on the complexity of the journey. What is the Council's role in these service?

Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester Councils working in partnership run the Traveline call centre based at Ellesmere Port and are responsible for the bus stop and timetable data that is used by the Traveline and Transport Direct services. The Councils are also responsible for maintaining other national datasets that apply to the Councils administration boundary such as NaPTAN and the National PT Gazeteer. The data is exported on a weekly basis and where possible service changes are available to view two weeks before their start date.

The bus times used in these services are those times supplied to the Council by the bus operators. Most operators only supply times at the principle timing points and we use a computer calculation to estimate the rest of the intermediate stop times.

If you have any questions about the accuracy or completeness of the information used in these services please use the feedback forms provided on the sites or Contact Us.
