Each Area Highways Team has responsibility for highway maintenance issues and traffic engineering matters (eg:speed limits, planning applications, traffic calming).  The Area Highways Teams will always try to attend Parish Council meetings when highway issues are to be discussed. It is helpful if an indication of any unusual problems on the agenda can be given in advance; this may allow advice to be given on the spot rather than having to report back to a later meeting.

Whilst they may sometimes have to say "No" for legal, technical or financial reasons, the Area Highways Teams do have considerable discretion and have found solutions to some unlikely problems raised by Parish Councils and members of the public in the past.
