Dog Exclusion Order for St Anne's Field Newtown

In response to requests from residents of Newtown, the local residents’ association and based on the results of the recent formal consultation process which ended on 5 March 2012 and on earlier community consultations including public meetings and a survey, Cheshire West and Chester is going to introduce a Dog Exclusion Order on St Anne’s Field banning dogs from any part of the field.

The Order, making it an offence to take any dog onto any part of the field is made under the Dog Control Orders (Prescribed Offences and Penalties, etc.) Regulations 2006 and the Dog Control Orders (Procedures) Regulations 2006, which implement sections 55 and 56 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.

Residents have asked for an alternative site where dogs can be allowed to run free and so the Council is creating this by making improvements to the green-space on St Anne’s Street opposite Henry Place. However, there will still be a requirement for dog walkers using this area to clean up after their dog has fouled.
