A sporting challenge for all

Northwich Aquathlon at Moss Farm Leisure Complex

23 April 2009

Youngsters and adults across Cheshire West and Chester are being urged to sign up for a sporting challenge.

The Northwest Junior Aquathlon series draws to a close on Sunday May 3 as Warrington Triathlon Club host the inaugural Northwich Aquathlon at Moss Farm Leisure Complex.

The series, which has covered Manchester, Bolton and Chester, will be the final chance for the multi-sport stars of tomorrow to pick up points in their quest for regional glory.

The Aquathlon begins with a swim in the indoor pool, followed by a run around the sports field.

The event is open to children from the age of eight through to adults.  The junior categories allow children of similar ages to race against each other over the two disciplines in a safe environment as the whole event takes place within the complex and involves no road crossing.

The racing distances vary with each category according the British Triathlon guidelines so there will be nothing that will be beyond anyone who can swim and run.

The race has the backing of Triathlon England following a stringent risk assessment and the triathlon shop and coaching facility, Tri Central, which is  providing prizes.

The categories for the race are:

  • Tristart - 8 year olds
  • Tristar - 9 to 10 years
  • Tristar 2 - 11 to 12 years
  • Tristar 3 - 13 to 14 years
  • Junior/Youth - 15 to 19 years
  • Seniors - 20 years upwards

Entries close on the April 29. Entry forms are available at the reception area of Moss Farm Leisure Complex or at www.warringtontri.co.uk.
