Councillor Houlbrook acheives special qualification
1 July 2009
A Cheshire West
and Chester councillor has become one of the first councillors in
the North West to achieve a special academic qualification to help
her in her work to tackle homelessness in the borough.
Councillor Jill Houlbrook has been awarded a
BTEC for Local Authority Member Champions, a course designed to
develop and improve guidance for council champions, councillors,
officers and appropriate interest organisations.
The course, the first in the North West and
only the second in the country, is run by North West Employers
Organisation.
Councillor Houlbrook said: "I am very
pleased to have been successful in gaining the BTEC and I will
continue to facilitate changes and build awareness of the
fantastic service offered by the agencies involved with helping and
supporting homeless people in the authority."
Mandy Ramsden, Democratic Services Senior
Manager at Cheshire West and Chester, said: "As a new
authority we are keen to support our members in all their
roles. Councillor Houlbrook’s achievement is an excellent
example of how councillors can enhance their skills for the
benefit of the community they serve."
