Personal licence

A personal licence is needed to authorise the sale of alcohol in any premises such as pubs, restaurants, hotels and off licences.

The fee for a licence is £37. A fee of £10.50 is chargeable for any alterations or replacements.

Personal Licences must be held by all Designated Premises Supervisors. You must have achieved the appropriate Accredited Licensing Qualification.  To obtain a list of accredited qualification providers visit the Gov.UK website.

How long are personal licences valid for?

Licences are valid indefinitely but it is important to remember that you are still legally required to inform us when any of your details change.

Am I eligible for a licence?

To qualify the applicant must:

  • be over 18
  • possess an approved training qualification
  • have no convictions for a relevant offence
  • have paid the licence fee
