Pin your suggestions for wildflower meadows in your community

about 2 years

As part of the Council’s Wildflower and Grassland Strategy consultation, we are looking to identify Council-owned and maintained green space/grassed areas where wildflower meadows could be created in the borough.

We are considering two types of meadow:

Native meadow - naturally occurring wildflowers that need mowing once in late summer which are created by not cutting the grass verges as often.

Designer meadow - vibrant colourful annual displays that contain native and non-native flowers. Generally, they are annual plants that must be sown each year.

Please bear in mind…

  • The site or location must be Council-owned and maintained green space/grassed areas (these are highlighted on the map in dark green)
  • Any changes to our grass cutting cycles must not cause an obstruction to sight lines for motorists
  • Only limited resources are available for the planting of designer meadows. With this in mind, we believe we can create one designer meadow per ward area in the borough
  • Before any wildflower meadows are created, local consultation will be carried out to ensure the site is appropriate and the views of local residents are considered.

Simply drag and drop a pin on the map to show us where you think we could create a native or designer meadow. Zoom in to locate the area your suggestion relates to.
