Customer Service Centres
The Northgate Locks, Pathways and the Old Vic day services are closed. Service users are now staying in their homes following government guidance. Contact is continuing with telephone and outreach contact as appropriate for every service user. Support is continuing for people living in supported living settings.
Centre based youth work has been suspended. Detached youth work (street-based youth work provision), will continue to operate for at least another week with social distancing principles. This will be reviewed Friday 27 March.
Early help and prevention services delivered from children’s centres will be suspended. This includes parenting group work - the service is working towards a virtual solution to helping parents.
The Young People’s Service has temporarily closed regular services until further notice. The staff are moving to other important roles within the Council, working across the wider children’s workforce. All early help and prevention and domestic violence and abuse case work is being reviewed to look at which cases can move to telephone contact rather than face to face home visiting.

To help customers to continue using our service we have:
- Extended all loans until the end of April
- Halted any new fines incurring
- Increased the loan limit to 30 items
- Removed the limit on all renewals
- Removed the charge for holds not collected
- Extended hold collection time to three weeks
All borough markets will remain open in line with government guidance, only for the purchase of essential food, groceries and pet food.
Markets are open from 9am until 5pm (Chester Market opens at 8am), with the first hour reserved for elderly, NHS staff and vulnerable customers.

Concessionary Travel Passes
The restriction on travel before 9.30am has been suspended meaning those with an eligible/recently expired Cheshire concessionary bus pass can travel free of charge on all local bus services at any time.
All schools in England have closed until further notice as part of the country's ongoing response.
All collections of garden waste have been suspended so resources can be concentrated on maintaining a regular household refuse collection service.
Waste and recycling
All Work Zones are closed to the public. Mentoring appointments and registrations are still available online and by phone for existing customers and other unemployed residents looking for employment support.
The Work Zones are offering a job matching service for employees who have recently been laid off or had their hours reduced by the coronavirus outbreak, and are looking to transfer temporarily to a new job.
Northwich Job Fair
The Northwich Job Fair will now take place on Friday 4 September from 9.30am until 1pm at Brio Memorial Court in Northwich.
