Support the coordinated community response

The Council, Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) and the rest of the voluntary and community sector have all been working closely together on the coordinated community response to coronavirus, gathering an army of volunteers along the way.

Since a form was set up at the start of the coronavirus outbreak for residents to volunteer, more than 2,000 people have offered their support. CWVA has been busy signposting volunteers to charities and community groups, helping to make sure west Cheshire's most vulnerable residents have access to things like essential food and medical supplies.

Although a lot of these charities and community groups are managing the impact of coronavirus well and have enough volunteers at present, volunteers are still being recruited through the online form in case their support is needed later. Some charities and community groups are requesting further volunteers when their workload increases and CWVA is helping to match these.

Being a good neighbour and volunteering while at home are other ways residents can make a big difference. Although you might not be contacted immediately about volunteering with charities or community groups, regular information and advice is being shared with volunteers so they know about the many ways they can play their part in the coordinated community response.
