Becoming a passenger assistant
To begin the process of becoming a passenger assistant you need to book a DBS (disclosure and barring service) appointment.
Please note that you must be at least 16 years old to request a DBS check and this service is not for taxi drivers.
Book an appointment
We offer appointments at two of our council offices:
- Wyvern House, Winsford: every Tuesday
- Nicholas House, Chester: every Friday
What happens next
You will receive an email with an application form attached. Please fill out that application form in full and arrive promptly for your appointment. You will also need to provide the following documents:
- a passport-sized photograph
- a full five-year address history
- a £54 payment which can only be taken by a credit or debit card at your appointment (no cash or cheques will be accepted at this time)
To help protect you and others, including our staff, please ensure that you are following the current Government guidelines and do not visit our office if you or someone you live with has any COVID symptoms.
Please wait until it is safe for you to attend the office.
Please do not bring anyone with you to your appointment. Only the person who is required to attend the appointment will be admitted to the office. Please do not bring children with you to the appointment unless it is absolutely unavoidable e.g. unable to get childcare.
Whilst we are able to ensure two metres between you and our members of staff, we cannot guarantee there will be enough space to maintain two metres between you and your companions.
On arrival you will need to clean your hands with hand sanitiser, which we can provide for you. If you use alcohol based hand sanitisers please make sure all liquid has evaporated off and hands are dry before you proceed to touch anything. We will be handling your documentation with gloves. You will be asked to place your documents in a tray and then required to move away whilst we collect them.
If at any point you fail to adhere to social distancing and at our request, you will be asked to leave the building and re-book the appointment for a later date.
Throughout your visit please observe social distancing, keeping two metres apart from anyone who is not from your household, wherever possible.
