Financial support for carers
Cheshire West Carer Support Service offers financial support for carers in a number of ways. They have benefits advisors that carry out benefits checks to make sure carers are claiming benefits they are entitled to, as well as offering appointments to help fill in carer-related benefits (i.e. Carers Allowance, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Allowance and Attendance Allowance).
The service also offers two funds to carers to help on a practical financial level. The Essentials Fund offers up to £250 for items that will help them in their caring role, which could include white goods, such as a new washing machine, or a small gardening or decorating job.
The Emergency Fund is available when carers are in crisis and need immediate financial help up to the value of £100. This will be allocated at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.
