Winsford Town Park

A park to be proud of

The fantastic Winsford Town Park is now being enjoyed by young and old alike following a major investment.

The new look Winsford Town Park has become a big hit since it was opened at the start of the summer.

Cheshire West and Chester Council spent £900,000 transforming the site into a stunning public space with new facilities for Winsford residents to enjoy and Winsford Town Council, under a long-term lease, will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Park.

During the refurbishment, dead and overgrown trees were removed and new ones were planted. The landscape was redesigned, turning it into a multi-purpose outdoor attraction.

Improvements

Families have been enjoying the new children's play area, getting fit on exercise equipment and using the multi-use games area. People in search of a more relaxing space have been enjoying the wildlife ponds and viewing platform.

New pathways have made it easy for residents to walk from the town centre into the park and the flashes on the River Weaver. The children of the neighbouring St Chad's Church of England Primary and Nursery School said: "The new town park is fun and is so much better than the field that used to be there. It is brilliant that we have such a good park with new things so close to our homes and school. It gives us lots of fun and chance to stay healthy."

Location

The park's location successfully links the town centre with the waterfront and the A54, and is modern, open and spacious. The fantastic support for the project from local residents and the high quality of the finished space really sets the standard for all the developments and improvements the Council wants to bring alive for the town.

Getting involved

If you have a passion for the park and want to get involved, you can contact the Winsford Town Council in the first instance. The Council has commissioned an expert plant grower to maintain the planting scheme, and with Winsford schools to use the park as a classroom in the open air.

The Town Council will be commissioning interested parties to create an information panel and is working with Northwich Town Council and the Friends of Winsford Town Park to make sure the Park continues to look its best.
