Police and Crime Commissioner Election 2021
On 6 May 2021, electors in the North West Region will have the opportunity to elect the Police Crime Commissioner for Cheshire. Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) make sure that the local police in your area are meeting the needs of the community. Elections for the (PCC) take place every four years.
The Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) is responsible for overall co-ordination of the Police Crime Commissioner Election but will need to liaise with the Local Returning Officer (LRO). who has responsibility for printing the local ballot papers, verification and counting of ballot papers and submission of figures to the Regional Returning Officer.
The Police Area Returning Officer for Cheshire is David Parr at Halton Borough Council. They will run the nomination process, liaise with candidates and agents, collate the verification and count figures, and calculate and declare the result of this election.
The Local Returning Officers are also appointed at each local authority in the Police Authority area who will administer the remaining election processes like registration, managing postal and proxy voting, running polling stations and verification and counting of ballot papers and submission of figures to the Police Area Returning Officer.
The Local Returning Officer for Cheshire West and Chester Council is Andrew Lewis.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is in the process of developing plans for the PCC Election in the Cheshire area looking at how polling station and the count will operate in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We will do what we can to make polling station safe, however you may decide that you want to register for a postal vote and you can do this by contacting the Elections Team for an application form:
