Applications are now open for the Independent Board Chair for the Ellesmere Port & Rossmore Pride in Place Board

Justin Madders MP and Cllr Lisa Denson
Ellesmere Port & Rossmore has secured £20 million funding over ten years as part of the government’s Pride in Place programme.
This unique long-term investment will be community led and support communities to address local priorities and make lasting and positive changes for the area. While success will look different in every place, the objectives of the programme are to build stronger communities, create thriving places and empower people to take back control.
To deliver Pride in Place a neighbourhood board for Ellesmere Port & Rossmore will be established and will decide, through engagement across the area, where and how funding will be spent. Made up of local people, the Board will bring together residents, local businesses, grassroots campaigners, workplace representatives, faith, and community leaders and those with a deep connection to their area.
Cheshire West and Chester Council will act as the accountable body for the funds with responsibility for ensuring that public funds are distributed fairly and effectively.
Justin Madders MP will be a member of the Neighbourhood Board and will work with Cheshire West and Chester Council to appoint the Independent Chair. The Chair will then oversee recruitment of the Board.
Local residents know what changes their areas need, and that is why communities will be shaping and leading the development and delivery of the programme through the Neighbourhood Board. This community-led approach means that decision-making sits with residents, giving people the power to shape the future of their area. We are now asking for applications to represent Ellesmere Port as Chair of the Board. The Chair will act as a champion, organising engagement that reaches out into the community, to ensure decision-making is community-led. The Chair will lead the process of recruiting and convening the Board, with the support of the Council and our local MP.
This £20 million investment over the next decade is a real opportunity for Ellesmere Port and Rossmore. What makes the Pride in Place programme different is that it will be guided by local people who know their community best. Through the Neighbourhood Board we can bring together residents, businesses and community leaders to decide how this funding is used. I encourage local people to get involved and help decide the projects that will make the biggest difference to our area.
Applications to Chair the Board are now open, the Chair will ideally be someone who is strongly connected with, from, lives or works in Ellesmere Port and Rossmore.
