Brio Leisure named Outstanding Organisation of the Year at national awards

Brio Leisure has received two major honours at this year’s ukactive Awards, including the title of Outstanding Organisation of the Year.
The awards celebrate excellence across the UK’s fitness and physical activity sector. Brio was recognised for its innovation, impact, and commitment to helping people across the borough to lead healthier and more active lives.
Brio Leisure is the not-for-profit company owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council, which delivers leisure and wellbeing services across the borough on the Council’s behalf.
Brio also won the Education Programme of the Year award for its Teacher Training Academy, which was launched in January 2024. The programme provides training and support for new swimming teachers and helps to address the national shortage of instructors.
Brio was also a finalist in the Digital Transformation Award, highlighting its work to improve digital services through a new website, mobile app, and use of technology to enhance customer support.
Matt Parker, Managing Director of Brio, said:
We’re thrilled to be recognised nationally for the work we do. These awards are about people; our committed employees who work tirelessly every day to deliver high-quality services, and the communities we’re proud to support. To win two awards is an amazing achievement, and for one to be the biggest award of the night – Outstanding Organisation of the Year – is just incredible.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said:
Brio continues to show great creativity in how it supports our communities. These national awards are a credit to the whole organisation and to everyone who contributes to its success.
