Council prosecutes two people for fly tipping
Cheshire West and Chester Council has successfully prosecuted two people on the same day for fly-tipping offences.
The two cases were heard at Chester Magistrates court on Wednesday 18 June 2025.
A Northwich woman was fined a total of £700 consisting of a £300 fine, £200 victim surcharge and £200 costs following fly tipped waste being found at Naylor Court, Northwich, including two sofas, a chair and a mini fridge.
A £250 fixed penalty notice was originally issued but was never paid, despite the defendant being given an extension for payment.
An Ellesmere Port woman was fined a total of £620 consisting of a £300 fine, £120 victim surcharge and £200 costs following fly tipped waste being found at Westminster Road, Ellesmere Port.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Pride and Community Safety, Councillor Stuart Bingham said:
Please help us tackle this problem and report fly-tippers, they can’t just dispose of rubbish wherever they want. Fly tipping cause huge problems for residents and drains Council resources. This is environmental crime and is a blight on our communities. It has to stop. Fly-tipping like this is a blight on our communities and creates negative perceptions of places. We all want to live in a borough that is kept clean, green and tidy and be proud of our neighbourhoods. Please play your part to keep our places looking well-maintained and attractive.
If you discover illegal tipping of waste or see it being tipped, report it 24 hours a day on the Council’s website.
These prosecutions are two of the five prosecutions the Council brought to court last week, other cases were for illegal tobacco offences and fraud.
